In 2024, SVI’s Alberti–North Student Career Catalyst program has supported 115 students, from PhD candidates, to undergraduates gaining vital work experience. These exceptional individuals, mentored by our leading scientists, are not just students – they are vital contributors to groundbreaking research aimed at addressing critical health challenges in Australia and beyond.
In a climate where attracting top science talent to medical research is increasingly difficult, the Alberti–North Program stands out. The constraints of traditional funding models often push brilliant minds toward more secure career paths, but thanks to this support, we can offer a unique, hands-on experience to ignite passion and purpose in emerging researchers.
Our internships provide undergraduates the chance to engage directly in our diverse laboratories, gaining invaluable skills and knowledge alongside dedicated professionals. These experiences not only equip students for future success but also foster innovation that has the potential to transform health outcomes.
A heartfelt thank you to Susan Alberti AC and the late Colin North OAM for their vision and support, which make this program possible. Together, we are shaping the future of medical research – ensuring that tomorrow’s leaders are prepared to tackle the pressing health issues of our time.
