SVI Foundation welcomes insights from industry experts

What can medical research fundraisers learn from retail, property, and finance sales experts?  A lot!

Board members and staff participated in an insightful and engaging thought leadership session this week.

Among the many themes discussed was workplace giving and the need for new equipment.

Workplace Giving

Workplace giving is a great way to contribute to a healthier future for Australians. Everyone wins – employees, employers and SVI’s research.

Employees: Making a regular gift from your pre-tax salary is one of the simplest ways to support our work. You will reduce your taxable income, and because it’s managed through your work payroll system, you don’t need to worry about keeping receipts for tax time.

Employers: Offering your staff the opportunity to donate to SVI allows you to demonstrate your support for life-changing medical research. It can be a motivator for employees to work towards a shared philanthropic goal.

When SVI enters a workplace giving partnership with an employer, it maximises the value of every gift. We can reap tax benefits that amplify the impact of every dollar donated, keep administration costs down, and use the promise of regular income to plan our research strategically.

State of the art equipment

Another theme canvassed was the need for new equipment. Ground-breaking medical research takes more than skill. It takes the passion and commitment to push boundaries and redefine what’s possible. And it takes infrastructure – laboratories, tools and technologies. Without this, the ideas and theories generated by even the brightest minds will never be translated into effective treatments.

SVI’s Catalyst Circle provides critical support to researchers working on diseases affecting millions of Australians: cancer, heart disease, type 1 diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s and infectious disease.

It is a vehicle for impact-driven donations, allowing SVI to invest in new technologies, where the need is greatest. Your gift will have an immediate impact on our ability to make life-changing medical discoveries.

SVI is grateful to Phillipa, David and Dyson for their time, passion and expertise.
